On September 14, 2020, the staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North American Electricity Reliability Corporation (NERC) published a report outlining the best practices on cyber planning for the electric utility industry. The joint staffs interviewed subject matter experts from eight electric utilities of varying size and function to develop the report. The report includes the joint staffs’ observations of the utilities’ Incident Response and Recovery (IRR) plans, identifying common elements between them and evaluating effectiveness.
